I guess not every car with a British Leyland badge fell apart as soon as it rolled off the assembly line. Like this 1970 Rover P6 that made it into the hands of Bill Shaw who was a British racing engineer. He worked with conjunction with British Leyland's Competition Department and prepped the car to compete in British Saloon Car Championship. Stock 3.5 liter V8 was bored and stroked to 4.5 liters of British fury and 4 speed tranny. It even had Jag XJ6 IRS and McLaren race car brakes.
Sadly only 2 were ever produced before British Leyland's Competition Department folded.
One of the cars was sold to Australia and another ended up in the States.
The car did manage to win a race in the short time that it lived...until the suspension failed miserably that is.
I don't know about you but I want one. That wide body makes it look awesome.

Yeah the P6 they built properly. It was the SD1 that knackered them.
If you want to hear one at full-tilt, check out the Bygone Autos Targa car in this vid:

I want to see Triumph Dolomite go head to head with Rover P6.

That'd be excellent. Especially as you can get 270bhp from the Dolomite's 2.0l, and it sounds like this:
